gumnut

vessel wednesday

Lately, each time I take the dogs to the park I bring back one of these gumnut/ poddy things and this is how many I've collected so far.

Installment #2 in the series of Riveting Randomness - favourite smells:

freshly sawn timber
freshly poured concrete setting deep inside a dark, cool building site
hot bitumen hit by rain
freesias and gardenias (there, I had to throw a girly one in).

I love the little gumnuts - I love the idea of little people drinking and eating out of them.
But then I did want to life in the Faraway Tree when I was little as well.

Great post! Very poetic!

Some of my favorite smells...

- the rain-pregnant smell before a downpour
- pungent grass freshly-mown
- eucalyptus leaves crushed in your hand
- cloves in hot curries
- dusty books
- pine smell of the christmas tree

I love all of those smells as well, except for the concrete one - only because I've never smelled that (I think).

The smell of rain in hot weather - yum.

gumnuts...
...numnuts...

Must ponder for an O.Henry-ish witticism.

Ah, favorite smells. I, too, like freshly sawn timber. And freesia and gardenia. And freshly baked bread. And the earthy darkness of forest loam.
