Perversity in Sydney
Well Summer hit all of a sudden today...no spring..no buildup... just very warm.
And it makes it seem
almost perverse
to be knitting large warm lumps of alpaca on such an evening.
Kinda like "It's a hunnerd fokkin degreez up here on stage unner zee lights...

I've been wondering how my knitting obsession will survive a Sydney summer.
Guess it'll just have to be cotton...or bamboo... or soysilk?

I had the same thoughts on the weekend Carson, as I decided not to finish sewing up the rib collar cardi I've been knitting all winter (too hot for lumps of wool on lap) and went for the socks and baby cardi. I think this summer will be socks all the way! Plus some crochet - which was my mainstay last summer I think.
Socks would definately be more manageable. All I have to do is learn how to do them! Eeek..
And I was thinking about crochet too. There's a fab vintage pattern I want to do that has crochet finishing. So I guess I'll have to learn that too!
Aviamentos is in Newtown (457 King St - the St Peters end - if you know where the button shop is, it is a bit further down on the same side). It is closing in 3 weeks - everything is reduced - they have ribbon, braid, trims, grosgrain, cords (for curtains), tassels and so on - a lovely treasure trove, although a bit emptier than normal.
Socks are a lot easier than I thought they would be - and there are heaps of patterns and tutorials on the web - hurrah for the internet! Just not a lot of good sock yarns in Australia - again hurrah for the internet!
Re: Aviamentos
Ohhh..that place. I've never been in there for some reason. Will have to check it out before they close. Thanks for the tip.
